2022 CCI Integrated Security Seminar Series, Feb. 14

The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative in Southwest Virginia (CCI SWVA) and The Integrated Security Education and Research Center (ISERC) are hosting a seminar series focusing on integrated security. The first seminar, which will be held via Zoom at 10 a.m. Feb. 14, 2022, will feature two speakers with Q&A sessions following each presentation.

Topic: Organizational Data Breaches and Customer Compensation Strategies

Speaker: Viswanath Venkatesh is an Eminent Scholar and Verizon Chair of Business Information Technology at the Pamplin College of Business, Virginia Tech.  He will discuss his ongoing research program on how firms can recover from major data breaches and restore customer sentiment.

Topic: A Lower Bound on Any Quantum Protocol for Secure Function Evaluation
Speaker: Jamie Sikora is an assistant professor of computer science at Virginia Tech. Even in a quantum world, the security of some cryptographic tasks has limitations. In this work, Sikora will present a large family of tasks which all have provable insecurity. This is joint work with Sarah Osborn, Virginia Tech graduate researcher.
