About this event :
Peng Gao (Virginia Tech, Computer Science) will discuss LLM-Powered Cyber Threat Intelligence and Security Operations
This is a hybrid seminar, available in person in 118 Steger Hall and online at https://virginiatech.zoom.us/j/81535823214.
Abstract. Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) encodes rich security knowledge that can empower a wide range of security defenses. However, existing methods struggle to effectively extract, reason over, and operationalize this knowledge. This talk explores how Large Language Models (LLMs) can transform CTI from fragmented textual sources into structured, actionable insights that drive next-generation, knowledge-driven defenses. I will discuss CTINexus, an LLM-based framework for constructing high-fidelity Cybersecurity Knowledge Graphs from CTI reports, and CTIArena, a comprehensive benchmark for evaluating LLM reasoning across diverse CTI analysis tasks and heterogeneous, multiple CTI sources. Together, these advances lay the groundwork for intelligent, adaptive, and knowledge-centric security operations.
The presented works are partially supported by the presenter’s NSF CAREER Award, which aims to develop a holistic foundation for next-generation, AI-driven security operations centers (SOCs) using frontier AI technologies such as large language models (LLMs).
